Dark Neighborhood : A Reading and Conversation with Vanessa Onwuemezi

The Center for Writers and Translators at the American University of Paris is delighted to present, in collaboration with the , a conversation with Vanessa Onwuemenzi about听Dark Neighbourhood, her debut collection of short fiction. Published last October, the volume was named a听Guardian听Best Fiction of 2021. 鈥淪he sends English off on a great line of flight,鈥� novelist Tom McCarthy has remarked of Onwuemenzi鈥檚 writing, 鈥渇rom which it returns as poetry.鈥�

About the speakers:

Vanessa Onwuemezi听lives in London. Her work has appeared in听Granta,听Prototype,听frieze听补苍诲听Five Dials. Her story 鈥淎t the Heart of Things鈥� won the听White Review听Short Story Prize 2019.

Daniel Medin听is an editor and professor of comparative literature at the American University of Paris.
