By invitation of the Center for Writers & Translators,Deborah Levywill read from the middle volume of her living autobiography,The Cost of Living, and discuss her work at the intersection of fiction and autobiography. Levy is a South-African-born British novelist, poet and playwright, the recipient of numerous awards and twice shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Her work spans fiction, philosophy, poetry and memoir, exploring what it means to render a life in writing. Important to Levys work are also questions of gender, in particular the contradictory demands placed on the 21st-century female writer. She will be in conversation with Prof. Amanda Dennis (English & Comparative Literature).
Members of the public welcome.
