Hitchcock's Silent Films

Fondation Seydoux-Pathé - 73 avenue des Gobelins, 75013, Paris
Monday, September 19, 2016 - 13:00 to Monday, September 26, 2016 - 00:00

Kick off the fall season with a special screening of Alfred Hitchcock's most underground silent films!

We all know Hitchcock for his ‘talkies’ – from ‘The 39 Steps’ to ‘Psycho’. But the prolific director actually first found fame in England with his silent films in the 1920s, which set the blueprint for his distinctive dynamic style. So from August 31 until September 27, the Fondation Seydoux-Pathe is inviting the public to discover this unknown side to the ‘master of suspense’ with projections of nine of his lesser known silent films. Thanks to some phenomenal restoration work by the British Film Institute and a live piano accompaniment (in true silent movie style), these nine, rare masterpieces can be appreciated in all their former glory, as we trace the genius director’s illustrious career back to its muted beginnings.
